Washing Kyai Upas Heirlooms

Washing heirlooms is interesting ritual ceremony worth seeing held by the community of Tulungagung. They believe that their heirlooms can influence their lives such as; getting mercy, long life, and safety. Local visitors coming to the event hope to obtain the splashing of used water to clean the "Kyai Upas Heirloom", as they believe the water is merciful. Be the witness of the event on Friday, Syuro Month (Javanese Calendar) at the city hall of Tulungagung.

9 January - Nganjuk
The Great Procession Of Washing Jamasan Heirlooms

See the great procession of washing heirlooms called Jamasan and join the pilgrimage tour visiting the tomb of Kyai Gliman. The ritual procession starts at 10.00 am from "Pusaka Building" at Ngliman village, Sawahan district, Nganjuk regency. After being washed, the heirlooms are brought through out the city and highlighted with traditional art performances.

Have a memorable experience by watching the graduation of the hermits and the inauguration of the priest who have succeeded in gaining physical and spiritual power, cheered up with procession of Pamedaling Buwono and Langen Belso. This event is held on foothill of Mount Limo in Mantren village, Kebonagung district, Pacitan regency.

15 January – Tuban Regency
Haul Ceremony Of Sunan Bonang

Be the witness of the Moslem arts and performances, mass circumcision, reciting Al Qur'an and public preacher held at the tomb of Sunan Bonang and at the Great Mosque of Tuban. The event aims to commemorate the death of Sunan Bonang (one of the nine Moslem Saints spreading Islam in Java Island). You'll see cultural attractions such as; Hadrah Festival, Mass circumcision, reciting the holy Qur, and Bil Ghiob Wabin Nadhor. Don't miss this unique anniversary.

This tradition is held by the community of fishermen at Tambak Rejo beach, Blitar regency. The celebration aims to express theirs thanksgiving to God. Enjoy the Larung Sesaji and traditional performance.

January – Probolinggo Regency
Lengger Art

Don't miss this event, the traditional art from Probolinggo that still exist and has been developing up to now, held regularly every night starting from 08.00 pm to midnight, the dance performance and traditional songs could be enjoyed in the yard of Mangunharjo Market in Probolinggo. Many of University students in Indonesia do research on this art.
